About
Yair Lipshitz is a Mandel Post-Doctoral Fellow at Scholion, the Interdisciplinary Research Center in Jewish Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Yair completed his PhD at the Department of Theatre Arts in Tel Aviv University, and was the recipient of the Dan David Scholarship in 2008.
Yair's main field of research is the various intersections between Theatre, Performance and Jewish culture. His book, "The Holy Tongue, Comedy's Version: Intertextual Dramas on the Stage of 'A Comedy of Betrothal'," was published (in Hebrew) by Bar-Ilan University Press, as part of the “Interpretation and Culture” series. He has also published several papers dealing with Jewish-Italian theatre in the Renaissance, early 20th century Jewish theatre and drama, Halakha and Performance, Tony Kushner's plays, and the body in Rabbinic literature.
